At Grandma's House

So yesterday was the first day I had ever sewn since the 7th grade. I had a lot of fun! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the apron, because it was a lot of work, but I did finish most of it. I'll be putting everything together next Sunday and I'll have the finished photos available then.

Whew!

Finally, after two weeks of pure insanity I'm able to get back on track. Thanksgiving came and went and my husband and I got this terrible cold from my cousin Casey. Thanks a lot Casey! Maybe next time I'll think before I give any relatives hugs around the holidays. We're just now recovering after 7 days. Ugh!

Unfortunately, I have accomplished absolutely NOTHING as far as my first project is concerned. The only thing I have done is bought my fabric. I guess that's really all I need! However, I did have a great experience at the fabric store. All the employees were really excited about me learning how to sew an apron and they loved my old vintage 1950s pattern. I even learned how to figure out much fabric I need by looking at the pattern. Before, I couldn't figure it out because there were about four different options and it didn't really make sense to me. Now I understand. Yay!

Anyway, check out the pictures of my old 50s pattern and the fabric I bought. I think the fabric will complement the pattern quite well. I'll be going to Grandma's house sometime in the next week to learn how to do this.

Stay tuned for the end results!

Ciao

I'm a newbie!

I know what you're thinking. Blogging is so 2001 right? I have debated doing this for months. Talking myself into it and then once I get started, I talk myself out of it. It's like I'm talking myself off a freaking ledge. Not quite that serious.

Sometimes it's just nice to have some space away from Facebook and Twitter to write about a hobby I've dabbled in, but want to get more into. Now that I'm on this crazy diet (five weeks in...ugh), my hobby can no longer be heavy amounts of chocolate bars and martinis. Now I actually need to do something productive on my computer other than just doing google searches for celebrities I'm obsessed with like Ryan Gosling and Christiano Ronaldo.

So this weekend I'm going to Grandma's house (the best place to learn) to re-learn how to sew. I haven't sewn since 7th grade, but seriously, how hard can it can be? Not saying it's going to be a piece of cake (yum), but with a little hard work I think I'll pick it up quickly. However, knitting I do a few times a year, but I only know how to make one thing and that's a scarf. I don't actually know how to read a pattern so I need to learn how to do that as well.

As far as this blog is concerned, I think I'm going to kick this off as a weekly blog and then as my projects get more serious, I'll probably write several times a week.

Stay tuned for pictures of my fabric and my experience at JoAnn's (sounds dangerous), or maybe even my first completed project.

Muah!
